Contraindications

Although Kambo is completely safe when responsibly administered by a trained practitioner, there are a number of people with contraindications who cannot receive Kambo safely. Please note that this is not an exhaustive list so if you are receiving Kambo, it is imperative that you do your own research.

  • If you have a serious heart condition

​​

  • If you have had a stroke

​

  • If you are on medication for low blood pressure

​

  • If you have had a brain hemorrhage or serious brain injury

​

  • If you have had an aneurysm

​

  • If you have a history with blood clots

​

  • If you have serious mental health concerns (excluding depression, PTSD & anxiety)

​

  • If you are currently undergoing chemotherapy or radiotherapy (including 6 weeks post-therapy)

​

  • If you take immune-suppressant medication for an organ transplant

​

  • If you have had an organ transplant 

​

  • If you are recovering from a major surgical procedure

​

  • If you are pregnant or think you may be pregnant

​

  • If you are breastfeeding a child under 6 months of age

​

  • If you have water fasted 7 days prior to receiving Kambo

​

  • If you have partaken in any detoxing program 5 days prior to receiving Kambo (E.g. enemas, colonics, liver or digestive flushes)

​

  • If you are taking high amounts of stimulants or depressants (herbal supplements included. E.g. slimming or sleeping supplements)

​

  • If you have current or severe epilepsy

​

  • If you have Addison’s disease

​

  • If you have taken Bufo Alvarius Medicine (5-MeO-DMT) within 28 days

​

  • If you are under 18 years old

Please take extra caution if any of the following apply to you. It is also vitally important to inform your practitioner of these health considerations.

  • People taking slimming, serotonin and/or sleeping supplements.

​​

  • People taking immune-suppressants for auto-immune disorders.
     

  • People with active drug or alcohol addictions.
     

  • People who plan to use the sauna or practice hot yoga 3 days before (or after) Kambo.

 

  • If you're taking or have recently stopped taking any medications.

​​

  • If you're taking or have recently stopped taking any diet/slimming pills.
     

  • If you're regularly taking anti-diuretic medication or sports drinks.
     

  • If you currently or have in the past suffered from any form of eating disorder.
     

  • If you're epileptic.
     

  • If you have abnormally high or low blood pressure.
     

  • If you have liver or kidney problems.
     

  • If you have any chronic or serious health issues.
     

  • If you have asthma.
     

  • If you have diabetes.
     

  • It is good to be aware that if you are menstruating at the time of your session, it is a common occurrence that Kambo increase menstrual flow for 24 to 36 hours, due to its vasodilation properties. 

 

  • Due to its clearing and cleansing effects, it is important to note that Kambo has a reputation for increasing fertility. If you are not trying to conceive, please use extra caution and protection for at least one week after receiving Kambo. This applies to both men and women.
